SLNS ‘Sayura’ returns home after attending LIMA - 2017

Sri Lanka Navy’s Flagship Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), SLNS ‘Sayura’ which left for Malaysia on 14thMarch to take part in the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2017, returned to the Colombo port today (31) on successful completion of tour events.

Navy provides interest free loans for another 100 senior sailors

As part of the Sri Lanka Navy welfare initiative to grant interest free loans of Rs. 500,000 for navy personnel, under a concept of Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, another batch of 100 senior sailors were granted interest free loans at a function held at Naval Headquarters’ Admiral Somathilaka Dissanayaka Auditorium today (31).

The Naval personnel attached to the North Central Naval Command apprehended 8 local fishermen who were fishing with banned fishing nets (Purse Seine) during a search operation at Wankalaipadu sea area off Mannar yesterday (30).

Navy rescues a critically ill foreigner

he Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to transfer a critically ill foreign patient who had suffered with a sudden heart attack ashore for treatment today (30). The foreigner was on a merchant vessel named ‘ALONISSON’ belong to Greece which had ventured out to sea from the State of Qatar to South Korea.

Coast Guard life servers rescue three foreigners drowning off Mirissa Beach
 

Lifesavers of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard rescued 3 foreigners, including 2 females who got caught in a rip current in the seas off Mirssa Beach today (30). Upon rescuing the foreigners in distress, they were safely brought to the shore.
