Navy assists to bring a critically ill fisherman ashore for treatment

Acting on information disseminated by the Department of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, the Sri Lanka Navy rendered assistance to rush a critically ill fisherman, aboard a multiday fishing trawler, ashore today (20).

The fisherman who suddenly arrested with a heart stroke, had gone fishing on 6th of this month onboard “Gregory I” from Beruwala fisheries harbour.

Responding to the information, the Navy took prompt action by sending one of its Fast Attack Craft  P 414 attached to the Southern Naval Command to bring the patient ashore. Accordingly, the naval personnel reached the trawler in the seas about 42 Nm off the Galle Light House and safely brought the patient to the Galle harbour. Thereupon, he was transferred to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
