The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe visited the Eastern Naval Command from 24 to 27 May 2018 and the Navy Chief was received by the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Niraja Attygalle.
As part of his four day itinerary, the Commander of the Navy first attended the ‘Logistics Conference 2018’ held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 25 May. Subsequently, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe took time off to visit the Naval and Maritime Academy and SLNS Vidura. During his visit to SLNS Vidura the Commander of the Navy planted a coconut sapling on the premises and he was presented a memento by the Naval Officer in Charge Trinco-South, Commodore Aruna Kaldera, to signify the tour.
On the following day (26) the Navy Commander laid foundation stones for an Offshore Patrol Vessel Workshop and a storage complex intended to be constructed at the naval dockyard premises. Thereupon, he attended the certificate awarding ceremony of the Long Logistics Management Course as the Chief Guest, held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium and addressed the course participants. Next, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe toured the Naval Detachment (ND) Adukkupadu, SLNS Vijayaba and High Frequency Surface Wave Radar centre. Thereupon, Vice Admiral Ranasinghe visited SLNS Walagamba and planted a coconut sapling on the premises. The Commander of the Navy also never forgot to address the officers and sailors attached to the establishments where he paid these visits at.
Upon the Navy Commander’s visit to SLNS Kashyapa, ND Wakarei and ND Batticaloa his four day inspection visit at the Eastern Naval Command came to a close on 27May.
