Field surveys underway to locate suitable areas for sand mining in Trincomalee

After issuing a temporary order of prohibition by the Geological Survey and Mining Bureau (GSMB), for sand mining in the Mahaweli River basin from 15th to 28th February, the officials of GSMB with the assistance of the Navy have commenced a survey to identify the sand mining areas of the Mahaweli River in Trincomalee.

Navy finds 15,000 cubes of illegally mined sand in Thippansetti

Marine Personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command in coordination with the officials of the Sri Lanka Police and Sri Lanka Geological Survey and Mining Bureau managed to find heaps of sand that being mined illegally, sands valid permit in Thippansetti, Periya Kinniya yesterday (22nd February).

Navy extends further assistance to identify pertinent locations for sand mining in Trincomalee

After issuing a temporary order of prohibition for sand mining around the Mahaweli river from 15 to 28 of February, Sri Lanka Geological Survey and Mining Bureau carried out a field survey in order to assess the sand mining process in Trincomalee district from 21st to 23rd February and Sri Lanka Navy assisted for this mission.
