Commander of the Navy visits Navy General Hospital

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne made an inspection visit to the Navy General Hospital in Welisara on 06th August 2020. This turned out to be his very first visit to the Navy General Hospital, upon assumption of duties as Commander of the Navy.

The main focus of the tour of the Navy Chief centered on the special medical services launched by the Navy General Hospital to cater for the medical requirements of retired naval personnel, family members of retired and serving naval personnel, civil staff employees and their near and dear ones. Apart from that, Vice Admiral Ulugetenne paid keen attention on as how the reservation mechanism for medication works out over the phone and online for greater convenience of patients. Further, the Navy Commander went on to spell out necessary directives for effective and efficient execution of the proceedings pertinent in this regard.

Adding further, he highly appreciated the medicine and prescription drug -delivery programme introduced by the Navy General Hospital in collaboration with the Directorate of Naval Welfare, which enabled the recipients to collect their medicine at their doorsteps on time.

On the sidelines of this tour, Commander of the Navy, flanked by officers from the Navy Headquarters and Navy General Hospital, also held a round-table discussion, where they discussed at length about the ongoing initiatives introduced as welfare measure. Moreover, the new issues sprang out on this occasion were promptly addressed after discussion.

The occasion was also attended by Director General Health Services, Commander Western Naval Area, Director Naval Welfare and a host of senior and junior officers.
