NSVU and Navy Welfare support Defence Services College, Colombo with over Rs. 01 million supplies

Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and Navy Welfare directorate have sponsored for equipment and books worth over Rs. 01 million, for the use of Defence Services College on Malay Street, Colombo on 14th September 2020. Accordingly, the occasion to handover these provisions was held under the patronage of the President of Navy Seva Vanitha Unit (NSVU), Mrs. Chandima Ulugetenne at the college auditorium.

The generous gesture which got off the ground as part of another social responsibility initiative of the NSVU witnessed the provision of a multimedia projector, books for the college library and furniture for the college laboratories. Meanwhile, the Navy also made necessary arrangements to repair 20 defective computers which had been left aside over a long period of time. Apart from that, the NSVU and Navy Welfare directorate also made sure that the CCTV system of the college is back in operation, for the security at the school premises and college children.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the Defense Services College, Colombo said that due to the timely intervention of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit and the Navy Welfare directorate the college was able to fulfil a number of long-standing shortcomings. He further opined that the contributions made by the Armed Forces and the Police in meeting the needs of the school children and the school, since its inception, had been commendable and was particularly grateful for the most recent provisions made available by the Sri Lanka Navy.

The occasion was also attended by NSVU executive committee member, Mrs. Kumari Weerasinghe, senior member of the NSVU, Mrs. Udeni Kularathna, Acting Director General Services and Director Naval Welfare, Director Naval Dental Services, Director Naval Civil Engineering (Planning), Principal, staff and students of the college and staff of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit.
