In a solemn and respectful event marking the National War Heroes’ Day Commemoration, the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda paid a visit to the naval veterans at the “Anchorage” Naval Care Centre in Welisara on 22 May 26.

As part of its steadfast commitment to preserving the country's marine environment, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted another segment of its hallmark "Green and Blue Domain" and Clean Sri Lanka initiative at the Naval Dockyard in Trincomalee on 19 May 26. This programme marked another milestone in the Navy's dedication to ecological preservation and coastal sustainability endeavours.

Italian Navy’s "ITS GIOVANNI DELLE BANDE NERE", which arrived in Colombo (21 May 26) on a replenishment visit, departed the island today (22 May) on completion of her intended purposes. The Sri Lanka Navy bade a customary farewell to the departing ship in compliance with naval traditions at the port of Colombo.

The National War Heroes Commemoration Ceremony 2026 was held with dignity on 19 May 26, at the War Heroes Memorial in Battaramulla. The solemn event, organized by the Ranaviru Seva Authority, was graced by the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sunayna, under the name of IOS Sagar, arrived in the island embodying the Indian Navy's endeavour to build 'Bridges of Friendship', departed the island on 18 May 26. The ship was accorded a formal farewell by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions, upon her departure.

Embodying the Indian Navy's endeavour to build 'Bridges of Friendship', Indian Naval Ship Sunayna, as IOS Sagar, arrived at the Port of Colombo on 15 May 26. The vessel was accorded a traditional naval welcome by the Sri Lanka Navy upon its arrival in Colombo.

Marking a significant milestone in their lives, a new batch of Direct Entry officers formally received their letters of appointment from the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda during a ceremony held at Navy Headquarters on 15 May 26.
