Navy divers recover a cache of gunnery items form Arugambay lagoon
 

On receipt of information, a group of Navy divers attached to the Southeastern Naval Command carried out an underwater search operation and recovered a cache of gunnery items from the lagoon area of Arugmbay yesterday (02nd October). Among the recovered items were; seven (07) 81mm mortar grenades, two (02) 81mm mortar grenade fuzes, three (03) 60mm mortar grenades (with fuze), seventy nine (79) 7.62x39mm ball ammunition and one (01) RPG grenade spilling charger.

The underwater operation was carried out for over 03 hours, under the guidance of the Commander Southeastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Ruwan Perera and the supervision of Officer in Charge Naval Detachment Arugambay, posing no any danger to the fishermen and civilian in the vicinity. The recovered gunnery items were handed over to the Pothuvil Police for further investigation.
