Navy fixes a defunct ferry connecting Punguduthivu and Nainativu
The ferry used by the Road Development Authority (RDA) to transport goods and passengers from Kurikattuwan Jetty of Punguduthivu Island to Nainativu Island in Jaffna was in a state of poor shape for several months and was recently fixed with the contribution of Sri Lanka Navy.

Multi-functional hall built for welfare of naval personnel
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne laid the foundation stone for a multi-functional hall at the Welisara Naval Complex today (25th April 2021). The brand-new reception hall that will feature all new amenities has been proposed to be erected to offer a wide array of welfare provisions to all naval personnel.

Navy women emerge champions at Galaxy Cup under-25 Super League Volleyball Championship 2021
Exhibiting sterling performance at the Galaxy Cup under-25 Super League Volleyball Championship 2021, organized by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation, the Navy women clinched the coveted title edging out the team Hirdaramani in the final today (24th April 2021). Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, as the Chief Guest, graced the women’s final encounter worked off at the Indoor Stadium of National Youth Services Council in Maharagama.

Financial assistance for funeral of retired naval personnel introduced
Sri Lanka Navy introduced a programme to provide a funeral assistance worth Rs. 100,000, to the next of kin of retired naval personnel at their funeral. The initiative was launched by the Navy, with a view to further expand the welfare provisions catered to the retired naval personnel who have served in the Regular and Volunteer Forces of Sri Lanka Navy.

Navy – made 350 thalassemia infusion systems handed over to Ministry of Health

Naval Social Responsibility project develops 08 underprivileged schools across the country
In connection with the 70th anniversary of Sri Lanka Navy, the sea going arm of the country has launched another social responsibility initiative, under the directives and guidance of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, to develop selected underprivileged schools in the country, in year 2021. The prime motive of the project is to create a more conducive learning environment for the children - the future generation of the country. Accordingly, this timely project was launched in the Western, Eastern, North Central, Northwestern, Southeastern, Southern and Northern Naval Commands on 19th April 2021. Financial contribution extended voluntarily by all officers and sailors from their monthly salaries is utilized for the project, while the Navy also enables its able manpower required for the construction work.
