Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course successfully concludes in Maho

Commander Northwestern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jayantha Kularathne on 01st October 2021 presided over the insignia pinning and certificate awarding ceremony of the Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy’s Bomb Disposal Training School in Maho.

The event saw 24 naval personnel were pinned with the Bomb Disposal insignia and awarding of certificates for the successful completion of the Bomb Disposal Qualifying Course 01/2021 held from 22nd February to 01st October 2021. Taking in to account their overall performances during the course, Lieutenant AMKKB Abeysinghe and Leading Seaman BMAS Wijesinghe were adjudged the Best Officer and Best Sailor respectively. In addition, Able Seaman SPB Chanuka received the award for being selected as the ‘Best in Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The ceremony was held in compliance with COVID-19 protocols to prevent the pandemic spread. Commandant Naval Infantry, Rear Admiral Anura Kaldera, Director General Training, Rear Admiral Uditha Kumara, Senior Staff Officer (Bomb Disposal and Administration) Commander SP Chandrasoma and a limited group of naval personnel were present on this occasion.
