SLNS ‘Sayura’ and SLNS ‘Suranimala’ on a training visit to India
The Offshore Patrol Vessel SLNS ‘Sayura’ and Fast Missile Vessel SLNS ‘Suranimala’ of the Sri Lanka Navy, which are on a training and goodwill visit from 22nd to 28th October 2016, left for India from the Port of Colombo today (22).

Navy arrests 21 local fishermen engaged in illegal fishing
Naval personnel attached to SLNS Therapuththa located in Silawathurai in the North Western Naval Command arrested 21 local fishermen who engaged in illegal fishing activities using unauthorized nets in the seas off Silawathurai on 20th and 21st October 2016.

Navy nabs two persons for catching a sea turtle
On receipt of information from National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA), naval personnel attached to SLNS Vijaya located in Kalpitiya belonging to the North Western Naval Command arrested 2 persons who caught a sea turtle in between Norochcholai and Kappalady lagoon area and were attempting to transfer the turtle by illegal means today (20).

Two Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants declared open in Hambegamuwa
As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s community service programmes carried out with the intention of preventing Chronic Interstitial Nephritis in Agricultural Communities (CINAC), another 2 Reverse Osmosis systems were installed and declared open for community use at the premises of Kotaweheramankada Maha Vidyalaya and Rathambalagama Sri Bodhirajaramaya Temple today (17).
