Russian Naval Ship Varyag departs island

The Russian Naval Ship Varyag, which arrived in Colombo on 01st March 2024, departed the island today (03rd March), on successful completion of its official visit. The Sri Lanka Navy bade customary farewell to the departing ship at the port of Colombo in compliance with naval traditions.

Navy renders assistance to conduct St. Anthony's Church festival in Palaitivu

The annual festival of St. Anthony's Church on the Palaitivu Island, Jaffna was successfully held on 01st and 02nd March 2024. The Sri Lanka Navy provided facilities for conduct of the event and convenience of the devotees.

Sri Lanka Navy Special Boat Squadron honoured with President's Colour

Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President and Commander - in - Chief of the Armed Forces of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka awarded President's Colour to the Sri Lanka Navy Special Boat Squadron (SBS) today (01st March 2024). The momentous ceremony was held at the main parade ground of Special Boat Squadron Headquarters, Trincomalee, in precision with time-honoured naval tradition.

Hon. President reviews naval fleet in Trincomalee harbour

Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the President and Commander - in - Chief of the Armed Forces of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka visited Trincomalee harbour today (01st March 2024) to review the naval fleet stationed there. Accompanied by Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, the President inspected the naval fleet, which included a variety of ships.

SLNS Sayurala concludes successful participation in multilateral naval exercise MILAN 2024

SLNS Sayurala on 29th February 2024 returned home after successfully participating in the multilateral naval exercise MILAN 2024. The naval exercise, hosted by the Indian Navy, was held from 19th to 27th February in the Visakhapatnam Port and in the Bay of Bengal, eastern seas of India.

SLNS Samudura returns after Exercise Dosti – XVI

Sri Lanka Naval Ship (SLNS) Samudura today (29th February 2024) returned at the port of Trincomalee, after taking part in the Exercise Dosti – XVI. The trilateral exercise ‘Dosti’ was held in Male from 22nd to 25th February, with the participation of Sri Lanka Coast Guard, Indian Coast Guard and Maldives National Defence Force.

MoU between U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration and Sri Lanka Navy signed

A delegation led by the U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, H.E. Julie Chung met with the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera at the Navy Headquarters today (28th February 2024). During this visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration and Sri Lanka Navy was also signed.

Sri Lanka Navy facilitates successful annual feast at St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchativu

The annual feast of St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchativu was held on a successful note on 23rd and 24th February 2024. Kachchativu is an islet belonging to Sri Lanka, located close to the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) of Sri Lanka and India. The main mass of the church festival was conducted by the Vicar General of the Jaffna Diocese Rev. Fr. Josephdas Jebaratnam. The proceedings of the event had been organised under the guidance of the District Secretary of Jaffna, Mr. A Sivabalasundaram. The main mass was attended by the Secretary to the President, Mr Saman Ekanayake, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, distinguished invitees, a large number of devotees and a representative from the Indian government.
