During an operation conducted in the dark hours of 15 and wee hours of 16 Feb 26, the Sri Lanka Navy seized two (02) Indian fishing boats and apprehended twenty five (25) Indian fishermen while they were poaching in Sri Lankan waters, off Kankesanthurai, Jaffna.

In a continued effort under the national mission “Nation United”, the Sri Lanka Navy conducted an operation in the Mannar south sea area today (14 Feb 26), leading to the apprehension of two (02) suspects and the seizure of a dinghy (01) carrying two (02) sacks, suspected to be narcotics.

During a search operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the Daluwa area of Puttalam on 12 Feb 26, a stock of 86800 mini-cigars, over 1250kg of Kendu leaves, 132 parcels of processed Kendu leaves, 103kg of charcoal, 1594 packets of shampoo were taken into custody along with a lorry (01) and one suspect (01).

The Sri Lanka Navy took hold of over 300kg (wet weight) of Kendu leaves during a search operation in the sea area off Marawila on 07 Feb 26.

During a search operation in the sea area north of Iranativu, Kilinochchi in the dark hours of 05 Feb 26, the Navy apprehended 07 persons with 355 illegally harvested sea cucumbers, 02 dinghies and diving equipment.

In a coordinated search operation conducted in the Wattala area on 02 Feb 26, the Sri Lanka Navy and Police apprehended 02 suspects with a significant haul of pharmaceuticals (744,500 capsules) and a lorry (01) used to transfer those items.

The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended 03 suspects with 17kg of turtle flesh, 39 turtle eggs and a dinghy (01), during a search operation in the Nachchikuda beach area of Mannar on 31 Jan 26.

The Sri Lanka Navy apprehended one (01) suspect in possession of 117 turtle eggs, during a search operation conducted in the beach vicinity of Kalladichenei of Trincomalee on 28 Jan 26.

In a coordinated operation on 25 Jan 26, the Sri Lanka Navy and the Fisheries Inspectorate of Mannar apprehended an individual (01) for the illegal possession of a significant stock (1158) of undersized conch shells in the Irukkalampiddi area.

The Sri Lanka Navy assisted in extinguishing a sudden fire that broke out at the dump site of the Hambantota Municipal Council on 23 Jan 26.
