Sri Lanka Navy in the dark hours on 24th March 2021 apprehended 05 Indian fishing vessels along with 54 Indian nationals while poaching close to Sri Lanka.

During a special operation conducted at Veththalakerni in Jaffna today (22nd March 2021), the Navy managed to apprehend 02 suspects for transporting about 239kg and 850g of Kerala cannabis by a tipper truck.

Special operations conducted by the Navy at Mohoththuwaram beach in Kalpitiya and Kuduirippu beach in Talaimannar on 19th and 20th March 2021 led to the seizure of 2221kg and 600g of dried turmeric (in wet weight). It is believed that the consignments were left behind by racketeers in fear of naval operations, after they were smuggled into the country via sea.

A naval operation conducted in seas off Talaimannar made way for the apprehension of 02 suspects who were attempting to smuggle about 349kg of turmeric and 156kg of cardamom into the island, on 15th March 2021.

During a special operation conducted in Kurakkanhena, Kalpitiya today (11th March 2021), Sri Lanka Navy was able to foil an illegal migration attempt by apprehending 24 persons involved in this unlawful act.

A special operation by Navy in seas off the Eluvaitivu Island, Jaffna made way to apprehend 02 suspects who were attempting to smuggle about 141kg of Kerala cannabis worth over Rs. 42 million into the island, on 10th March 2021.

A special operation conducted by Navy in seas off Talaimannar on 09th March 2021 led to the apprehension of 04 suspects who were attempting to smuggle over 1189kg of dried sea cucumber into the island.

A special operation conducted by the Navy on Somathivu Island in Kalpitiya on 08^th March 2021 led to the seizure of 107kg and 125g of Kerala cannabis.

A special operation carried out by the Navy at Serakkuliya beach in Puttalam on 06^th March 2021 led to the seizure of about 670kg of dried turmeric attempted to be smuggled into the country and apprehension of 03 suspects involved in the racketeering.

Special operations conducted by the Navy in Manalkulam area, Silawathura on 04^th March 2021 and in Pulachchanai, Norochcholai in the wee hours today (05^th March) led to the seizure of 2217kg of dried turmeric suspected to be smuggled via sea and apprehension of 07 suspects.
