Commander of the Navy meets Inspector General of Police

The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Damian Fernando, met the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Priyantha Weerasooriya, at Police Headquarters today, 17 July 2026.

Receiving the visiting Navy Chief, the Inspector General of Police took the opportunity to congratulate Vice Admiral Fernando on his recent appointment as the 27th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy.

During their meeting, the two officials discussed a spectrum of shared concerns, chief among them being security challenges and the strengthening of mechanisms to combat illegal activities including drug smuggling, through closer institutional collaboration.

The maiden official meeting concluded with the exchange of mementoes, marking the significance of the occasion.
