Navy answers nation's call for dengue battle

The Navy continues to support the national dengue control campaign aimed at safeguarding public health and curbing the spread of dengue.

The programme is jointly organised by the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, the National Dengue Control Unit and the Environmental Protection Division of the Sri Lanka Police.

The 19th day of the campaign on 25 July, 88 naval personnel attached to the Western Naval Command joined Medical Officer of Health (MOH) officials, Divisional Secretariat staff, Public Health Inspectors and members of the International Red Cross in dengue prevention activities.

During the operation, 2,649 premises in Ragama, Mahara, Borella, Panadura, Narahenpita, Kelaniya, Wattala, Gampaha and Modara were inspected. Authorities identified 380 potential mosquito breeding sites requiring immediate attention.

In parallel with the national campaign, the Sri Lanka Navy continues to conduct environmental inspections across all Naval Commands to eliminate potential mosquito breeding sites.
