Navy stays the course against dengue menace

The Navy has continued its support for the national dengue control campaign aimed at curbing the spread of dengue and safeguarding public health.

The initiative is jointly organised by the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat, the National Dengue Control Unit, and the Environmental Protection Division of the Sri Lanka Police.

Marking the 26th day (30 July) of the campaign, 81 naval personnel attached to the Western Naval Command joined Medical Officer of Health (MOH) officials, Divisional Secretariat staff, Public Health Inspectors, and members of the International Red Cross in carrying out dengue prevention activities.

During the operations, 3,100 premises in Ragama, Mahara, Borella, Panadura, Narahenpita, Kelaniya, Wattala, Gampaha, and Modara were inspected. Legal action was initiated against 37 premises identified as potential mosquito breeding sites.

In parallel with the national programme, the Sri Lanka Navy continues to conduct environmental inspections across all Naval Commands as well.
