Navy conducts first-aid training for fishing community in Dodanduwa
The Sri Lanka Navy, in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, conducted a first-aid awareness programme for local fishermen at the Dodanduwa Fisheries Harbour in Galle on 16 October 2026.
The workshop was conducted by medical personnel from the Southern Naval Command as part of an ongoing series of training initiatives designed to empower the fishing community.
Participants received both theoretical and practical instruction in Basic Life Support and mental well-being. The session focused on managing medical emergencies at sea, equipping fishermen with essential skills to administer initial care until patients reach shore or receive professional medical assistance.
