Navy rushes ill woman from Baththalangunduwa island for treatment

The Sri Lanka Navy administered first aid and evacuated a critically ill woman from Baththalangunduwa island in Kalpitiya to the Kalpitiya Base Hospital for medical attention on the night of 1 October 2026.

The assistance was provided following a notification that a woman temporarily staying on Baththalangunduwa island for fishing activities had become critically ill due to a sudden medical condition.

Accordingly, the Navy transferred the woman to the jetty at SLNS Vijaya aboard the Inshore Patrol Craft P 265. The patient was then promptly transferred to the Kalpitiya Base Hospital for further medical treatment.
