The President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, promoted Rear Admiral Priyantha Perera to the rank of Vice Admiral and appointed him as the 25th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 18th December 2022. Navy rescues 04 fishermen including one trapped in capsized trawler in south-eastern waters
In a dedicated search and rescue operation, Sri Lanka Navy rescued 04 fishermen, including a fisher trapped inside a multiday fishing trawler for 04 days, as their trawler was in distress in south-eastern waters, and rushed them to the Kalmunai Hospital for treatment today (11 December 2022).
