The veteran naval officer began his grueling 48-hour challenge on a manual treadmill at 10:00 AM at the Naval Detachment Colombo, under the supervision of official world record adjudicators.

Launch of "Shipwrecks around Sri Lanka" digital platform to bolster maritime heritage and diving tourism
Developed by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau with the extensive technical support and facilitation of the Sri Lanka Navy, the official launch of the "SHIPWRECKS AROUND SRI LANKA" website was held in Colombo on 12 Mar 26. The event was also attended by the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda.

JMSDF ship OONAMI departs island concluding goodwill visit
The Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force (JMSDF) ship OONAMI arrived at the port of Colombo on a goodwill and replenishment visit on 09 Mar 26. The visit concluded on 11 March, as the ship departed the island, receiving a formal farewell from the Sri Lanka Navy, in keeping with naval traditions at the Port of Colombo.

War Heroes Participate in a Naval Excursion
In accordance with the concept of the Commander of the Army and under the supervision of the Directorate of Veterans’ Affairs and Rehabilitation, war heroes at the Ranaviru Sevana Rehabilitation Centre, Mihindu Seth Medura and Abhimansala 1, 2, and 3 Wellness Resorts participated in a naval excursion on 04 March 2026 from the Galle Southern Naval Base for a whale-watching tour aboard the Sri Lanka Navy vessel “Lanka Devi”, with the approval of the Commander of the Navy.

Navy provides vital support to treat injured wild elephant
The Sri Lanka Navy extended essential assistance to the Department of Wildlife Conservation to treat an injured wild elephant on 10 Mar 26. The elephant, which had sustained gunshot wounds, was discovered roaming within the premises of SLNS Mahanaga in Panama.
