The Sri Lanka Navy stepped forward to provide essential diving assistance to restore the functionality of the sluice gate at the Namal Oya Reservoir, Ampara on 06 Jun 25.

The Royal Norwegian Naval Ship HNOMS ROALD AMUNDSEN arrived at the Port of Hambantota for replenishment purpose on 10 Jun 25. The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with time-honoured naval traditions.

Demonstrating its unwavering commitment to protecting marine and coastal ecosystems, the Sri Lanka Navy lent its helping hand to a series of impactful environmental initiatives in observance of World Environment Day 2025. Held on 04 and 05 June 25 in the Eastern, Northern and Southeastern Naval Commands, these efforts underscored the Navy’s dedication to the government’s vision of nurturing ‘A Sustainable Biotic World – An Evergreen Life’.

The Vice Chief of Naval Staff of Indian Navy, Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, accompanying the high-level delegation led by Defence Secretary of India, Mr. Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, arrived in Sri Lanka to attend the 8th Annual Defence Dialogue, met with the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda on 05 Jun 25 at the Navy Headquarters in Colombo.

In a significant step toward preserving Sri Lanka’s marine biodiversity, the Sri Lanka Navy partnered with the Clean Sri Lanka Secretariat to bolster conservation efforts on 02 Jun 25 in the Pigeon Island area off the coast of Trincomalee. This special initiative, held in line with World Environment Day and the Sri Lanka Navy enabled vital diving assistance for this worthwhile endeavour.

A high-level Australian delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of Australia, Hon. Richard Marles, met with the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda on 03 Jun 25 at the Navy Headquarters, Colombo.
