RO plant at Kaudulla Maha Vidyalaya, Medirigiriya declared open
The Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant, built as part of the Naval Social Responsibility (NSR) Project by the Navy's Research and Development Unit, was declared open at Kaudulla Maha Vidyalaya in the Divisional Secretariat of Medirigiriya on 17th January 2025. The project, carried out with industrial expertise of Research and Development Unit, was funded by Perera and Sons Bakers (Pvt) Limited. Also, the facility marked the 1076th unit delivered under the NSR Project.

25th anniversary of Provost and Regulating branch of the Navy celebrated with beach cleaning drive
The Sri Lanka Navy organized a cleaning programme at the beachfront of Talaimannar Lighthouse today (16th January 2025) on the occasion of 25th anniversary of the Provost and Regulating branch. This initiative was carried out in support of the government's “Clean Sri Lanka” project, launched under the motto “Beautiful Island, Smiling People.”

Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe appointed as Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy
Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe was appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 31st December 2024. The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda officially handed over the letter of appointment to Rear Admiral Chinthaka Kumarasinghe at the Navy Headquarters today (15th January 2025) and expressed his best wishes to him in his new role as Deputy Chief of Staff.

Rear Admiral Damian Fernando appointed as Chief of Staff of the Navy
The President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Commander – in – Chief of the Armed Forces, Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake appointed Rear Admiral Damian Fernando as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Navy effective from 31st December 2024. Commander of the Navy visits North Central Naval Command
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda conducted a formal visit to the North Central Naval Command on 12th and 13th January 2025. The visit aimed to evaluate operational activities, construction progress, welfare programmes, and training initiatives at SLNS Pandukabhaya, SLNS Shiksha, SLNS Thammanna, and SLNS Gajaba. During his visit, he addressed a cross section of naval personnel, emphasizing the Sri Lanka Navy's role in achieving maritime security objectives.

Commander of the Navy pays homage to places of worship in Anuradhapura
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda paid his respects to the Atamasthana (the eight sacred sites) and other prominent places of worship in Anuradhapura on 12th January 2025. This marked his first visit to the historic city since assuming office as the 26th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy. He was accompanied by Mrs. Anusha Banagoda, the President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, during the visit.

Navy anchors support for “Clean Sri Lanka” project with cleanup drives in Galle and Hambantota
The Southern Naval Command organized a cleanup campaign today (12th January 2025), covering the beach stretch from Samudra Mawatha to city limit of Galle, the beach area extending from the Gintota Bridge to Hikkaduwa and Hambantota Fisheries Harbour. This initiative was carried out in support of the government's "Clean Sri Lanka" project, launched under the motto "Beautiful Island, Smiling People."
