Navy commander accesses Northwestern Naval Command operations and infrastructure
The Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda, conducted an official two-day visit to the Northwestern Naval Command on 18 and 19 Apr 26, to assess the operational and administrative readiness of naval establishments and ongoing projects.
The Navy Chief was warmly received by the Commander Northwestern Naval Area upon his arrival. During this visit, Vice Admiral Banagoda called at several naval establishments, including SLNS Thambapanni, SLNS Vijaya, SLNS Barana, and SLNS Therapuththa. His inspections covered ongoing projects and operational setups, during which he issued essential directives to senior officers for refining procedures and upholding operational readiness.
A highlight of the visit was the Commander’s address to the naval personnel stationed within the command. Vice Admiral Banagoda underscored the critical importance of maintaining unwavering discipline as the cornerstone of naval service. He further called upon all naval personnel to remain steadfast in the execution of their duties, and to uphold the integrity and professional standing of the Sri Lanka Navy at all times.
