Indonesian Navy Sailing Ship KRI BIMA SUCI – 945 concludes official goodwill visit to Sri Lanka
The Indonesian Navy Sailing Ship KRI BIMA SUCI – 945 departed the island on 18 Apr 26, marking the successful completion of her official goodwill visit. The ship was accorded a formal farewell by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions at the Port of Colombo.
During the stay, the Commanding Officer of KRI BIMA SUCI, Commander SUGENG HARIYANTO, engaged in discussions with the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Jagat Kumara, and the Director General Operations, Rear Admiral Harsha De Silva. Further strengthening bilateral ties, a preliminary discussion regarding the 2027 Navy Staff Talks between the Sri Lanka Navy and the Indonesian Navy was held at the naval premises in Colombo, with personnel from both navies in attendance.
The visit also served as a valuable educational platform, as officer under-trainees and other personnel of the Sri Lanka Navy had the opportunity to conduct an observational tour of the sailing vessel. This exchange of knowledge was complemented by a series of events designed to foster professional and social bonds.
Beyond formal meetings, the crew of KRI BIMA SUCI participated in a vibrant City Parade and Cultural Show, a friendly volleyball tournament, and a collaborative beach cleaning initiative. To round off their visit, the ship’s complement explored several iconic tourist attractions across the Colombo district, taking home fond memories of Sri Lanka.
