Motor scooter along with Kerala Cannabis seized by Navy

The Navy has recovered about 8kg and 475g of Kerala Cannabis, during a coordinated search carried out with the Police at Chavakachcheri, Palai on 13th January 2020.

The Navy being a forerunner in conducting anti-drug operations to ward off the drug menace from the country, has seized a large amount of drugs and produced a number of drug traffickers for legal action. As an extension to its anti-drug operations, the Navy carried out a coordinated search with the Police Narcotic Bureau at Chavakachcheri, Palai and found about 8kg and 475g of Kerala Cannabis concealed in a motor scooter parked at the side of the road. It is believed that the stock of cannabis might have been transported for sale. The suspects are believed to have fled the scene, in fear of the joint raid by the Navy and Police.

Further, a mobile phone left behind in the scooter has also been recovered during the raid. An operation is currently underway in search of the suspects connected to this incident. The motor scooter, Kerala Cannabis and the mobile phone were handed over to the Palai Police station for onward investigation.
