Experience-based learning session with Kumar Sangakkara inspires naval personnel in Eastern Naval Command
Former Sri Lanka cricket captain Mr. Kumar Sangakkara led an experience-based learning session for personnel of the Eastern Naval Command at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee on 23 August 2026. The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Damian Fernando was also present at the event.
Drawing on his own experiences, Mr. Sangakkara shared insights with naval personnel on achieving their professional and personal goals, both during their naval careers and in civilian life. The session also included an interactive session, providing an opportunity for naval personnel to exchange views and engage in discussion with the former national captain. He also observed a cricket tournament held at the Naval and Maritime Academy during this visit.
Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy and Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Buddhika Liyanagamage, along with senior and junior officers from ships and establishments from the Eastern Naval Command, officers undergoing training at the Naval and Maritime Academy, and a group of senior and junior sailors attended the event. A memento was also presented to Mr. Kumar Sangakkara to mark this occasion.
