Navy conducts basic life support training for fishing community
The Navy conducted a basic first aid training programme for members of the fishing community at the Hambantota Fisheries Harbour on 18 August 2026.
The programme was organised by the Southern Naval Command as part of the Navy’s community empowerment initiatives. It focused on first aid measures for injuries, bleeding, burns and unconsciousness, as well as emergency medical situations that may arise at sea.
Fishermen were also instructed on how to respond to and manage medical emergencies and were educated on the importance of maintaining good health and hygiene practices while engaging in fishing activities.
