TRINEX-26 enters sea phase
The sea phase of Trincomalee Naval Exercise 2026 (TRINEX-26) commenced off the coast of Trincomalee on 21 July 2026, with the participation of the Sri Lanka Navy's Naval Fleet, 4th Fast Attack Flotilla, Special Boat Squadron, Marines and the Sri Lanka Air Force.
On the opening day of the exercise, participating units carried out a series of operational drills, including Miscellaneous Exercises (MISCEX), Surface Firing Exercises (SURFEX), Screening Exercise (SCREENEX), Gunnery Exercises (GUNEX) and Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP).
The programme for 22 July includes Search and Rescue Exercises (SAREX), Casualty Evacuation drills (CASEVAC), Replenishment at Sea (RAS), Towing Exercises, Flashing Exercises (FLASHEX) and anchoring exercises.
The exercise also provides officers and sailors undergoing training with the opportunity to take part in a range of naval drills, enabling them to gain practical experience and further enhance their experience in operational set up.
