Indian and Sri Lanka navies conduct joint beach cleanup at Galle Face

Personnel from the Indian Navy and Sri Lanka Navy carried out a joint beach cleanup drive along the Galle Face coastline in Colombo today, 27 October 2026.

The initiative involved crew members and officer under-trainees from the Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS), comprising INS Tir, INS Sujata and ICGS Sarathi, which arrived in Sri Lanka on an official visit, alongside personnel from the Sri Lanka Navy’s Western Naval Command.

During the programme, naval personnel collected a significant volume of solid waste, including plastic and polythene debris, scattered across the Galle Face shore. The collected waste was subsequently disposed of in a responsible manner.
