Irregular Migration Liaison Officer at New Zealand High Commission calls on Commander Northern Naval Area

Mrs. Sonya Douglas, the Liaison Officer for Irregular Migration at New Zealand High Commission in Colombo, called on the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dammika Wijewardana today, 26 October 2026, at the Northern Naval Command Headquarters.

The official discussion focused on illegal migration trends in the Northern Province, maritime border security, human trafficking and transnational organised crime. Both parties also explored avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation in maritime security. The meeting concluded with an exchange of mementoes to mark the occasion.
