North Western Naval Command conducts a field Health Clinic

As part of the Navy’s Community Development Project, the North Western Naval Command conducted a field health clinic in the Mannar district on 16th February 2014 under the patronage of Commander North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara.

The field health clinic was conducted successfully at the Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Assumption in Mullikulam to improve the health standards of more than 185 newly-settled Tamil and Sinhala families from Mullikulam, Pookkulum and Palugasthurai in the Mannar district.

Treatments were given, to communicable, non-communicable and respiratory diseases, child health problems as well as old age health problems. Women health care at primary level was also looked in to during the clinic. A large number of patients attended the clinic. Medicine and nutritional supplements were provided free of charge by the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC), Thriposha Lanka Ltd, Glaxo Lanka, Epharma Pharmaceuticals, JL Morrison Ltd and Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals.
