Navy beat Havelock

Navy Sports Club beat Havelock Sports Club 20 – 13 in their Dialog "A" Division rugby league 2^nd round final match, which was worked off at the Havelock Grounds on 22^nd February 2014. His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, First Lady, Madam Shiranthi Wickramasinghe Rajapaksa, Minister of Justice, Hon. Rauff Hakeem, Minister of Co-operatives and Internal Trade, Hon. Johnston Fernando, Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage, President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Srima Colombage, Chief of Staff of the Navy and senior naval officers were among the spectators who came to witness the match. Navy scored 02 goals and 02 penalties while Havelock scored 02 tries and a penalty in reply.

At the conclusion of the match, trophies and certificates were awarded to the winners of the league rugby tournament 2013/2014. His Excellency the President presented the Championship Cup to Rohitha Rajapaksa, Captain of the Navy Sports Club which won the title in a spectacular performance, remaining unbeaten throughout the whole tournament. Commander of the Navy presented a special trophy to Namal Rajapaksa in appreciation of his contribution to the uplift of SLN rugby. Navy Full Back, Nuwan Hettiarachchi was awarded the trophy for scoring the highest number of points in the tournament.
