North Western Naval Command assists in providing Health Facilities and Pre-School Education

As part of the Navy’s Community Service Programmes, the North Western Naval Command conducted a field health clinic at Saveriyapuram village in Silawathura on 06th March 2014. It was conducted under the patronage of Commander North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara.

The field health clinic aimed at improving the health standards of Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim families from Saveriyapuram, Pandaraweli, Musali and Silawathura in the Mannar district.

More than 165 patients were treated for communicable and non communicable diseases as well as child, women and old age health problems at primary health care level. Action was also taken to provide health education in Tamil. Medicine and nutrition supplements were provided by State Pharmaceutical Corporation, Triphosha Lanka Ltd, Glaxo Lanka Pharmaceutical Ltd, Interpharma Pharmaceutical, Epharma Pharmaceutical, Ranbaxy Pharmaceutical and Morisons Lanka Ltd.

Meanwhile, the Commander North Western Naval Area declared open a pre-school at SLNS Barana in Mullikulam on 07th March 2014. It was constructed by the Navy for the benefit the children belonging to the resettled families in the area.
