Commander of the Navy awards Prizes to Winners of Poster Competition
Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage awarded the prizes to the winners of the poster competition organized by the Psychology and Counseling Unit of the Sri Lanka Navy at the Naval Hospital Complex in Welisara on 07th April 2014. Director General Health Services, Surgeon Rear Admiral NELW Jayasekara, Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe, several Director Generals and Heads of Departments of the Navy, Director Mental Health at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Rasanjalee Hettiarachchi, and Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr. Raveen Hanvella, were also present on the occasion.
The poster competition was held under the guidance of the Commander of the Navy and the Director General Health Services for the naval personnel, civilian staff and their family members. The objective was to increase the awareness on mental health and enhance the psychological wellbeing of naval personnel, civilian staff and their family members.
The competition was held under three categories for naval personnel and civilian staff employed in the Navy, family members above 16 years of age as well as children below 16 years of age of the naval personnel and the civilian staff.
The exhibition of the posters was held from 3rd to 7th April 2014 at the Naval Hospital Complex in Welisara. The inauguration and the selection of winners were held on 3rd April with the participation of Chief of Staff of the Navy, Rear Admiral Jayantha Perera.
