Sri Lanka Navy’s exhibition site at the “Deyata Kirula 2014” won the second place for being one of the well presented exhibition stalls at the mega event. His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa presented the trophy and the commendation letter to Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage at the prize awarding ceremony held at the Presidential Secretariat on 05th May 2014. Collective effort, commitment and dedication of the officers and sailors who worked tirelessly for the event were instrumental in achieving this success for the Navy.

The Navy had made elaborate arrangements to take part in the Deyata Kirula Exhibition 2014, which was held in the city of Kuliyapitiya under the theme of ‘A Peaceful and Prosperous Nation.” The Navy exhibition stall depicted the activities of the Sri Lanka Navy and was full of exhibits showing its capabilities and achievements. The entrance, modeled as Navy’s Landing Ship Tank, SLNS Shakthi with its open bow door gave visitors the unique feeling of boarding a ship through the LST’s impressive ramp. Naval craft, navigational equipment and maritime weapon systems were also on display in the Navy’s stall. Sri Lanka Navy’s Fast Gun Boat, Udara was among the attractions along with a ship simulator that gave hands-on experience in navigating a ship in a virtual environment.
