Navy Inter-command Athletics Meet held at Sugathadasa Stadium

The inter-command athletics meet of the Sri Lanka Navy was held at the Sugathadasa Stadium on 26^th and 27^th May 2014 with the participation of over 480 athletes. Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage was the Chief Guest at the concluding ceremony held on 27^th. Navy Seva Vanitha Unit President, Mrs. Srima Colombage and senior naval officers were also present on the occasion.

Twelve new records were established at the keenly contested finals. Ordinary Seaman DUS Upatissa and Woman OD GD Ayeshika of the Training Command were crowned as the Best Male Athlete and the Best Female Athlete respectively.

The Eastern Naval Command, which bagged an impressive range of victories, won the Men’s Championship while the Training Command secured the Women’s Championship beating their rivals in a spectacular performance. The winners of respective events were awarded with medals and championships by the Chief Guest, Navy Seva Vanitha President and senior naval officers that were present.
