Bangladesh Naval Ships arrives at the Port of Colombo on goodwill visit
Bangladesh Naval Ships “ALI HAIDER” and “NIRMUL” arrived at the Port of Colombo on a goodwill visit on 16th May 2014. They were welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on arrival.
Ships’ Commanding Officers, Captain Mohammad Anwar and Commander Tanzim Faruq paid a courtesy call on Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe at the Western Naval Command Headquarters in Colombo.
ALI HAIDER (F – 17) is a frigate. It is 103 meters in length and has a displacement of 2008 tons. The ship commanded by Captain Mohammad Anwar has a complement of 250 naval personnel. NIRMUL (P-813) is a Large Patrol Craft. It is 64 meters in length and has a displacement of 667 tons. The ship commanded by Commander Tanzim Faruq has a complement of 70 naval personnel.
The visiting ship will stay in Sri Lanka until 18th May and the crew is scheduled to participate in several programmes organized by the Sri Lanka Navy to enhance the friendly relations between the two navies during their stay in Sri Lanka.
