North Western Naval Command conducts Field Medical Clinics in Mannar

As part of the Sri Lanka Navy’s community development and social responsibility project, the North Western Naval Command conducted two field health clinics on 25th and 28th May 2014 in parallel with 5th anniversary of SLNS Barana. One was held at the Roman Cathollic Church Mullikulam, and other was held at the Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School in Mannar. The clinics were conducted under the patronage of Commander North Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara.

The field health clinics were conducted by the command medical department of the North Western Naval area to uplift the living standard and medical facilities of the civilian community in the area. A large number of newly resettled villagers and school children include to multiple ethnicities of rural villages of Marichchikaddi division were benefited from the clinics.

They were treated for communicable, non-communicable, high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and child health problems as well as old age and women health problems at the primary family health care level. All investigations, medicines and nutritional supplements were provided to the patients free of charge.
