Leading Seaman Bandara wins 05th Place in Gold Coast 100 Kilometer Marathon
Leading Seaman Sanath Bandara of the Sri Lanka Navy has won the 05th place in the Gold Coast 100 kilometer marathon held in Australia. Determination and perseverance, two core values which his naval training has taught him, have guided him to the finish line of the long run to victory.
Bandara received the biggest incentive in his sporting career when he was granted the air ticket to take part in the international competition. It was arranged with the kind mediation of the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage and the generous sponsorship extended by the Colombo Dockyard Limited. Leading Seaman Bandara, true to his pledge to bring credit to the Motherland, paid his gratitude by securing one of the top slots in the mega marathon.
