COMMANDER OF THE NAVY VISITS MALDIVES

Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage accompanied by the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit President, Mrs. Srima Colombage is currently on an official visit to the Republic of the Maldives. They were warmly received on arrival and accorded a traditional welcome reflecting the goodwill of the two friendly nations.

Commander of the Navy called on President of the Republic of the Maldives, His Excellency Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and held cordial discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in maritime security, counter terrorism, prevention of marine pollution and commercial piracy. He also paid courtesy calls on Maldivian Minister of Defence and National Security, Hon. Colonel (retd.) Mohamed Nazim and Chief of Defence Force, Major General Ahmed Shiyam as part of his visit to the island-nation to strengthen bilateral relations.
