Commander of the Navy addresses 54th Intake Cadets

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera addressed the cadet officers of the 54th Intake at the Admiral Somathillake Dissanayake Auditorium at SLNS Parakrama on 03rd July 2014. The Navy Commander in his address expressed his pleasure in welcoming the newly-enlisted officers at his first official function attended after assuming duties as the Commander of the Navy. He thanked the parents for giving their consent to their sons to join the Navy and serve the Motherland with distinction. The Commander went on to add that he joined the Navy 36 years ago and today it has changed into a modern naval force from a ceremonial navy. The Navy, he said, is a technically-oriented service and therefore, demands a high level of technical expertise and professional knowledge from its members. He called upon the cadets to utilize the rare opportunity of becoming a naval officer to the maximum since only a selected few would get that privilege in their life time.

Forty-one cadet officers have been enlisted for the 54th Intake. They included 19 cadet officers enlisted for the Executive Branch, 04 cadet officers enlisted for the Naval Patrolman Branch, 09 cadet officers enlisted for the Logistics Branch, 07 cadet officers enlisted for the Engineering Branch and 02 cadet officers enlisted for the Provost Branch.
