Commander of the Navy pays homage to Sacred Tooth Relic and calls on Mahanayakes of Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters to receive blessings

Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera paid homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy on 10th July 2014 and called on Mahanayakes of Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters to receive blessings on his new appointment. The Navy Commander was accompanied by his family members and several senior naval officers.

The Navy Commander first visited the Sri Dalada Maligawa and called on Mahanayake of the Malwatte Chapter, Most Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera to receive his blessings. Thereafter, the Navy Commander called on Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter, Most Venerable Udugama Sri Buddha Rakkhitha Thera to receive his blessings.

The Mahanayakes invoked the blessings of the Triple Gem on the Navy Commander and delivered Anusasanas bestowing strength and courage to carry out the duties of his august office with firm resolve in accordance with the traditions and customs which the country is blessed with. The Navy Commander paying his obeisance to Mahanayakes offered them Atapirikaras and expressed his heart-felt gratitude for their wise counsel.
