Ranaviru Real Star Mission IV Grand Finale to be held on July 26
 

Secretary of Defence and Urban Development, Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa graced the press briefing of RRS Mission IV held at the Kingsbury Hotel on 23rd July 2014. The Grand Finale of the highly anticipated 'Ranaviru Real Star' - Mission IV, one of the most watched reality shows in Sri Lanka highlighting the innate talents of the armed forces personnel, will hit the airwaves live on Sri Lanka Rupavahini from 6.30pm onwards on 26th July 2014 telecast direct from the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.

Ranaviru Real Star was initiated and developed on a concept of Secretary of Defence and Urban Development, Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa and is organized by the Ministry of Defence in partnership with Dialog Axiata.

The highly successful Ranaviru Real Star (RRS) - Mission I, Mission II and Mission III received the highest number of SMS's for a reality show final. Last year's highly successful Mission III of RRS received over 8.3 million SMS's at the grand finale, the highest number for any reality show final, beating 4 million SMS's received at the finals of RRS Mission II.

Under the advice of the Secretary of Defence, RRS Mission IV initiated another world first; a round dedicated for Armed Forces personnel including disabled personnel residing at Mihindu Seth Medura, Abimansala, Ranaviru Sampath Kendraya, Ragama Ranaviru Sevana and others. The grand finale of RRS Mission IV will also comprise of a disabled solider, who will be one of the seven finalists.

The seven finalists for RRS Mission IV are Major SKTW Chandrakumara of the Sri Lanka Army (SLA), Captain MPRY Fernando of SLA, Captain PAND Silva of SLA, Lance Corporal KS Suranga of SLA, Lance Corporal WLMSK Lepothdeniya of SLA, Medical Assistant BAS Rishi of the Sri Lanka Navy and Leading Aircraftman MGNMD Dayarathna of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The panel of judges comprising of eminent personalities in the music industry of Sri Lanka will have a direct say in 60 percent of the outcome, whilst the rest of the outcome will be decided by the public via SMS. Previous RRS winners had the opportunity of performing on the international stage, showcasing their previously un-recognized aesthetic talents.

The winner of Ranaviru Real Star - Mission IV will be the proud recipient of a luxury house in his or her home town, while the runner-up will receive a cash prize of 1 million rupees plus a brand new car from Toyota Lanka. The third place winner will receive a cash prize of Rs. 2 million, with fourth receiving a cash price of Rs. 550 000.00. In addition, sixth to twelfth places will receive a cash price from Rs. 450 000.00 to Rs. 150, 000.00 each along with an LED TV and DTV (Dialog Television) connection.

Tri-forces Commanders, Additional Secretary (Civil Security & Development), Mrs. D.M.S.D. Jayaratne, Chief Executive Officer of Dialog Axiata, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC), Mr. Wimal Rubasinghe, high ranking officials of the tri-forces and the seven finalists were also present on the occasion.
