Maldives CDF calls on Commander of the Navy

Chief of Defence Force of the Maldives National Defence Force, Major General Ahmed Shiyam called on Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo on 18th August 2014. He was accorded a Guard of Honour and warmly received by the Commander of the Navy on arrival.

They held cordial discussions and exchanged mementos to mark the occasion.

Major General Ahmed Shiyam is a graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, UK. He began his career as an instructor in the Girifushi Training Center and has the honour of being the First Commandant of the MNDF Marine Crops on its inception in 2009. Prior to being appointed as the Chief of Defence Force, he served as the 02nd Commandant of the MNDF Coast Guard.

Major General Shiyam is in Sri Lanka to attend the Defence Seminar - 2014 organized by the Sri Lanka Army.
