Navy provides drinking water to drought-affected civilians
 
 

As a community relief measure, Sri Lanka Navy is providing drinking water to drought-affected civilians in Kayts and Mannar. Over 24,000 liters of drinking water are provided by SLNS Kanchadewa of the Northern Naval Command, utilizing three water bowsers daily. Over 4,700 civilians belonging to 1,300 families living on Kayts island benefit from the Navy’s relief measure implemented to prevent the shortage of drinking water to the islanders due to the prevailing dry weather conditions.

SLNS Pussadewa and SLNS Gajaba of the North Central Naval Command also provide drinking water to the drought-affected areas in Mannar. Over 26,800 liters of drinking water are distributed daily to Kalikattaikadu, Sinnapungathalvu, Neelasenai, Sirunavatkulam, Uyirtharasankulam, Parappankandal, Mullipallam, Periyanavatkulam, Nochchikulam, Eluthoor, Souhbar, Thoddaveli and Thalvupadu areas. Water storage tanks have also been installed at locations convenient to the General Public to obtain their daily drinking water requirements.
