Navy wins Championship in State Services Knock-out Netball Tournament – 2014

The Sri Lanka Navy netball team won the championship in the State Services knock-out Netball Tournament – 2014, beating the defending champions, Sri Lanka Air Force, 43-33. The tournament was held at the Indoor Stadium of the Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya in Gampaha on 06^th October 2014.

Sri Lanka Navy emerged winners in the tournament for the first time in the naval history with a comfortable margin of 10 goals, routing the former champions’ 15-year reign.

The Navy Netball Team is captained by Woman OD Hasitha Mendis who has represented Sri Lanka as a player of the national team on several occasions. The champion Navy team is coached by former national coach and technical consultant to the national team, Mrs. Hyacinth Wijesinghe.
