Russian Naval Ship "Moskva" arrives at the Port of Colombo
 
 

The Russian Naval Ship, “Moskva”, arrived at the port of Colombo on 23rd October 2014 on a replenishment and goodwill visit. The ship was ceremonially welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on her arrival.

To coincide with the ship’s visit, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Sri Lanka and the Maldives His Excellency Mr. Alexander A. Karchava and the ship’s Commanding Officer Captain (1st Rank) Sergey I. Tronev paid a courtesy call on the Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera at the Naval Headquarters in Colombo. They held cordial discussions and exchanged mementos to mark the occasion.

Moskva is a guided missile cruiser, which is 187 meters in length. It has a displacement of 9,270 tons and consists of a complement of 514 naval personnel. She will stay in Sri Lanka till 24th October.
