Certificate Awarding Ceremony of 13th Junior Naval Staff Course

The Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the 13^th Junior Naval Staff Course (JNSC) was held at the Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda Auditorium in Trincomalee on 15^th November 2014. The Director General Administration Rear Admiral Shemal Fernando graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Commander Eastern Naval Area Rear Admiral Rohana Perera, Commandant of the Naval & Maritime Academy Commodore Nandana Jayarathne senior officers representing the Naval Headquarters and Heads of Department in the Eastern Naval Command were also present on the occasion.

Seventeen officers from various branches of the SLN, who successfully completed the 18 week in-house course of Semester One in pursuit of their Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management, received their certificates from the Chief Guest during the ceremony.

LCdr.(E) SJDM Jayaweera secured the First in Order of Merit of the course by receiving the Highest Aggregates for Management, Leadership and Staff Work modules. LCdr.(E) SMJC Arunoda secured the prize for the Best Commandant’s Research Paper. The prize for the Best Public Speaker was awarded to Lt. AMDA de Silva and the award for the Most Inspirational Officer of the course was accorded to LCdr.(ASW) DMS Bandara. The prize for the Best Sportsman of the course was awarded to Lt. KMMUB Dayarathna. The ceremony was followed by a Mess Guest Night held in keeping with the Navy’s customs and traditions at the ENA Wardroom.
