All night Pirith ceremony in view of 64th Navy Anniversary
 
 

An all night Pirith chanting ceremony was held in view of the 64^th anniversary under the patronage of Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera at SLNS Gemunu in Welisara on 19^th November 2014. Mrs. Shalika Perera, Chief of Staff of the Navy Rear Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne, the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara, Director Generals of the Navy, large number of officers and sailors were also present. The Pirith chanting ceremony was followed by an alms giving ceremony for 64 monks on the following day.

The Sri Lanka Navy celebrates its 64^th anniversary on 09^th December 2014. A series of religious events are being held to mark this important milestone. The main Buddhist religious ceremony will be held at the Dalada Maligawa in Kandy.
