Commander of the Navy visits North Central Naval Area
 
 

The Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera visited the North Central Naval Area on 04th December 2014. He was accorded a token Guard of Honour and warmly received by the Commander North Central Naval Area Rear Admiral Dimuthu Gunawardena on arrival.

During his visit, the Navy Commander laid the foundation stone for the academic building at SLNS Shiksha. The 03-storeyed building is being built to house the Recruit Training Wing, the Leadership School and the Combat Training School. It will also have a spacious auditorium, a conference room and well-equipped classrooms required for naval training. He also declared open the Small Arms Firing Simulator at SLNS Shiksha. The cost-effective training facility developed by the Research and Development Unit of the Navy allows trainees to practise firing without ammunition in a risk- free environment. The system can be used in confined environments. It has user-friendly operating softwareand reduces the manpower and infrastructure required for small arms training. The Commander of the Navy also addressed the naval personnel of the North Central Naval Command. He also declared open the Naval Leave Center at Oyamaduwa designated for naval personnel and their families.

The President of the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Shalika Perera, senior naval officers from the Naval Headquarters and the North Central Naval Command were also present on the occasion.
