Enlistment of 22 Direct Entry Officers & 55th Intake Cadet Officers
 

The enlistment ceremony of the 22 Direct Entry Officers and the Cadet Officers belonging to the 55th Intake was held at the SLNS Parakrama auditorium on 16th January 2015. On behalf of the Commander of the Navy, the Director General Personnel Rear Admiral Sisira Jayakody addressing the gathering welcomed the newly-enlisted officers and thanked the parents for giving their consent to their sons and daughters to join the Navy. He called upon the enlisted officers to utilize the rare opportunity of becoming a naval officer to the maximum since only a selected few would get that privilege in their life time.

The Director General Training Rear Admiral Udaya Bandara, the parents and family members of the enlisted officers were also present on the occasion.

Twenty-eight cadet officers have been enlisted for the 55th Intake. They included 14 cadet officers enlisted for the Executive Branch, 05 cadet officers enlisted for the Naval Patrolman Branch, 04 cadet officers enlisted for the Logistics Branch, 02 cadet officers enlisted for the Engineering Branch and 03 cadet officers enlisted for the Provost Branch.

Seven Direct Entry officers have been enlisted for Dental (01), Legal (03) and Civil Engineering (03) branches while another fifteen Direct Entry officers have been enlisted for the Volunteer Naval Force. All will undergo their officer training at the Navy’s premier training facility at the Naval and Maritime Academy in Trincomalee.
